About Violet House

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I created Violet House and the Full Body Bib out of necessity.

My first daughter, Clarke, was born in 2023, and like many parents, I quickly discovered that one of the most challenging (and messy) milestones begins around seven months—when babies start eating real food. There’s nothing quite like the frustration of a stained outfit from a quick on-the-go feeding or the cleanup that follows a messy mealtime at home. We all want to let our little ones explore textures, practice independence, and enjoy food—but no one looks forward to the mess that comes with it.

When my second daughter, Violet June, began eating solids at six months, we were right back in the thick of it. While Clarke had already become a relatively tidy eater, Violet June was a whole new experience—she was, without question, a voracious eater and a true poster child for baby-led weaning. That’s when I started searching for a real solution to the mess.

What I found fell short. Most bibs were either small and ineffective or bulky poncho-style designs that still didn’t fully protect clothing—or prevent food from ending up everywhere it shouldn’t (like on their clean diaper!).

That’s when the idea came: why isn’t there a full-body bib? Something lightweight, waterproof (and food-proof), that could zip over a baby’s outfit and be thrown straight into the wash.

And so, the Full Body Bib was born.

I partnered with a manufacturer, went through hours of development and prototyping, and finally brought our first version to life. And from there, Violet House became something I knew I had to share.

Made of 100% fluorine free 400 waterproof nylon on the exterior, and 100% (incredibly soft) cotton on the interior, the Full Body Bib is the perfect solution for a difficult problem: messy meals.

This is a brand built for parents like me—people who love letting their babies explore food and independence, but could do without the endless cleanup. The Full Body Bib is perfect for mealtime at home, traveling (a wet bag is recommended), or simply layering over an outfit—or just a diaper—for stress-free feeding anywhere. When you’re done, simply unzip and toss it in the wash!
